Road Toad iPhone App
- If you are a road warrior, you will find Road Toad a very valuable tool. You no longer need to keep a notebook for documenting your business trip so you can get reimbursed for your mileage expenses. Road Toad will log the starting address and termination address of a trip, log the date and time of the trip, calculate your mileage and most importantly compute the dollar amount of your reimbursement according to your company's per diem rate.
Click here to go to the Apple App Store.
Main page - This is where it all starts. Tap the green START button to start recording your trip. Once your trip starts, the green START button becomes a red STOP button. Press the red stop button and you just completed recording your trip!
History page - Once you tap the History button in the uppermost right corner, you'll be transported here. Here is where all your recorded trips go; including the address, date and time of the trip's start and end, miles traveled, and the cost per diem (explained later!).
Summary page - Shows you the information from the History page in an easier to read format after you click the trip you want to review. The Start Point shows details about the address where you started your trip, as well as the date and time. The End Point is the same thing. Miles traveled and Per Diem cost is shown at the bottom part of the page.
Route page - After accessing the Summary page of a particular trip, tap the Route button in the upper righthand corner. You will now see a slightly zoomed out map, with red pins designating your start and end points, as well as directional arrows in between. The arrows show your direction of motion, so if for some reason you wanted to drive in a counter clockwise circle, it would record the trip with the arrows going in a counter clockwise circular path.
Settings page - The button can be found on the upper lefthand corner of the Main page. Here you can put in the preferred customizable settings for Road Toad, such as Map Type. Distance Filter is a setting where you can set it to be more accurate in terms of distance calculation at the cost of more memory consumption, or less accurate with less memory consumption. Per Diem is essentially the cost of traveling per mile.
